The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) was established on 15 August 2002, and is located in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. Initially, the Rajendra Medical College and Hospital was established in 1960. The RIMS is an autonomous body that was established by an act of the Jharkhand Assembly. Since its establishment, the RIMS has consistently produced high-quality graduates. The RIMS campus is a multi-story building with 33 departments. Some of these departments are orthopedics, pathology, forensic medicine, dermatology, neurosurgery, and ENT. Some of the other facilities available to students are an AIDS clinic, X-Ray machine, and telemedicine. It has its own dental college and blood bank. It offers a full range of medical services and courses, including MBBS, MD, and Ph.D.

The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi is an autonomous government-owned medical college. It offers MBBS degree at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Students are expected to undergo a compulsory rotational internship of 12 months before they graduate. Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS Ranchi) offers various degree programmes in different specialisations. The institute has a campus spread across 214 acres with a modern 1500-bed multispecialty hospital, 10 bedded Oncology unit, and 14 bedded Trauma centre. It has experienced faculty and 310 teaching staff. Its accredited courses are renowned all over the country and abroad. Courses offered are MD, MS, and BDS.

The MBBS course takes about four and a half years to complete. Then, there is a year-long compulsory rotational residential internship. During the internship, students are required to attend short courses on various specialties. Admission to the MBBS course is based on the rank obtained by the candidate in the NEET-UG exam conducted by the National Testing Agency. The institute’s admission policy accepts 150 college men each year. A portion of these seats are reserved for State Quota and 15% AIQ students.

The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Ranchi has three levels of courses – undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral.
